I really enjoy painting animals, flowers and people because of all their distinctive textures, colors, and forms. I always find myself getting lost with time working on each feather, hairstroke or musculature.

For centuries artists have included animals in their work as a focal point to help capture a distinctive feeling through out the overall piece of art. Each individual animal by nature is generally symbolized by its temperament. For example when you think of a Lion you think of strength and courage. Where an animal such as a cow can symbolize peace and simplicity.

As the artist I tend to connect with each animal during my painting process. I find myself exploring the animals little frown lines near its eyes and wonder if it's angry or just tired and hungry. The curves of the mouth keep me guessing if it's actually smiling back at me. Every significant detail makes a difference in art and I try to be very aware of that during my painting process.
